Kooltherm K15 announcement

Following the announcement from the Offi ce for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) regarding Kingspan’s Kooltherm K15 insulation (including two prohibition notices issued by the OPSS in relation to K15) and the withdrawal by the British Board of Agrément of its certifi cate for K15, the National House Building Council (NHBC) has asked registered builder customers for additional information regarding the use of K15 on all sites.

If K15 has been used across a site or on any plot, the NHBC will require evidence confi rming that the date of manufacture was on or before 31 July 2021 (for example, a copy of the invoice sett ing out the purchase date) or that the Declaration of Performance dated 2 August 2021 does not apply to the K15 used. Because of the OPSS prohibitions, the NHBC can no longer issue a building control fi nal certifi cate or make an off er of warranty if a building uses K15 that was manufactured on or after 1 August 2021 and is subject to the Declaration of Performance dated 2 August 2021.
