Parliament restoration
Early in 2019, a burst waterpipe sent water cascading through the ceiling of a chamber, drenching legislators during a debate. Not long before, an electrical fire, started by a malfunctioning light, had set fire to the roof and caused considerable damage. In fact, the Palace of Westminster caught fire an incredible 40 times between 2008 and 2012 and now has a fire-safety team of five patrolling the building at all times.
